Luxury Restaurants In Hcmc’S Central Tourist District

These are seven restaurants in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City’s District 1 that are highly addvisable amongst the expat community for a exquisite dining experience.

Esta Saigon Restaurant

Located on Tran Quy Khach Street near Tan Dinh Market opened five years ago. With a limited space of 35 seats, the restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere, allowing guests to easily observe how the chefs prepare their signature dishes, including Sichuan Style Mulwarra Lamb Saddle, Angus Veal Carpaccio and Angus Beef Tartare.

The restaurant is open from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Anan Saigon Restaurant

Located inside an old market on Ton That Dam Street near Bitexco Financial Tower, was named the best restaurant in Asia by industry experts and globetrotters and at this year’s World Culinary Awards. The restaurant is famous for its $100 banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich) that is topped off with French foie gras, truffles, a traditional garnish of sliced cucumbers, cilantro and mint and served with a side of fried sweet potatoes and caviar.

The restaurant’s banh mi created by the restaurant’s owner and chef, Peter Cuong Franklin, who wishes to provide diners with a fine dining experience. Other signature dishes at Anan include banh xeo taco, a dish consisting of banh xeo (central Vietnamese pancake) folded into the shape of a Mexican taco and filled with shrimp and pork, Hanoi-style grilled catfish or beef stew.

The restaurant is open from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Il Corda Charcoal Steakhouse

on Le Thanh Ton St., one of the city’s busiest tourist streets, mainly serves signature steaks grilled on charcoal. Designed like a traditional Japanese steakhouse, the restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating. Its signature dishes include charcoal-grilled beef premium tongue steak, black angus steak and unami steak. In addition, guests can order side dishes such as French fries, steamed rice, creamy mashed potatoes, garlic fried rice and creamed spinach.

The restaurant is open from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Prices range from VND100,000 to VND2.9 million.

Sol Kitchen & Bar

on Ly Tu Trong St. mainly serves Latin American-style dishes including yellowtail Tuna Tartare, red Spanish prawns, Salmon Tiradito, pork knuckle carnitas, grilled Mackerel and beef cheeks. Designed in a mixture of Spanish and Mediterranean style architecture with rattan ceiling lamps, the color theme of the restaurant is white and brown.

It is open from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Prices range from VND150,000-1.8 million.

BUP Sky Lounge & Restaurant

on the rooftop of the Odys Boutique Hotel near Ben Thanh Market, provides a vantage point to watch the city from above. The restaurant serves buffet dining during breakfast and offers an a la carte menu for lunch and dinner with a wide selection of Vietnamese street food and typical European dishes. Diners can enjoy baked Japanese oysters with garlic butter sauce, grilled American beef salad and French onion soup with garlic toast.

The restaurant is at 67-69 Nguyen Thai Binh Street and open from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Quince Saigon Restaurant

at 37bis Ky Con St. is not far from the Ben Thanh Market and Nguyen Hue pedestrian street. Led by acclaimed chefs Julien Perraudin and Charlie Jones, the restaurant specializes in European-style dishes. The highlight of the restaurant is that all dishes are grilled in wood fire ovens. Its signature dishes include smoked potato cream, tomatoes and jamon jam, cured salmon, and scallop tonkotsu.

The restaurant is open from 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The Log Restaurant

Located on the rooftop floor of the Gem Center on Nguyen Binh Khiem St., just a few steps from the Saigon Zoo Botanical Garden, takes inspiration from a wooden treehouse and that’s why its interior is decorated with red-brown wood paneling. Green plants are also a highlight at the restaurant that offers an airy and comfortable atmosphere. The restaurant serves both a buffet and a la carte menu. Advance booking is required.

The restaurant is open from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. on weekdays and until midnight on Saturdays and Sundays.
